Courtney graduated from the University of Guelph in 2012 with a BA Honours in English Language and Literature and a minor in Classical Studies. During her time at Guelph, Courtney became involved with several different organizations throughout the University and Guelph community including; The University of Guelph Wellness Centre, Peer Helper Program, Interhall Council and Homewood Health Centre. Courtney also acted as a campus tour guide, Student Life recruiter and Orientation Week volunteer and continues to volunteer as a Forever a Gryphon Ambassador.

After leaving the University of Guelph, Courtney earned her graduate certificate in Public Relations from Niagara College. After graduation, Courtney spent seven years as a consultant and project manager with a busy communications and public relations agency. She currently works as a Communications Consultant for Niagara College and supports her clients by developing comprehensive communications campaigns and unique story ideas.

In 2015, 2016 and 2017, Courtney was named one of PR in Canada's Top 30 under 30 for her work in the public relations and communications industry.

Courtney currently resides in the Niagara Region with her husband and son.
