Agribusiness Entrepreneur/Executive in Residence Program

Professor talking to students in lecture room

Details

OAC

Over a period of 10 years, the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics (FARE) will invite leading executives/entrepreneurs from the agri-food sector to campus to work in collaboration with faculty and enhance the student experience. Our goal is to raise $250,000.

Impact

There has been immense success with programs of this kind at the University of Guelph and other institutions. Not only have “executives-in-residence” programs had a positive and profound impact on students; many have resulted in collaborations that have had local, provincial, national and global impact.

By providing FARE students’ access to executives/entrepreneurs in the agri-food industry, their passion can ignite their future. Through interactions with these executives/entrepreneurs, it is hoped our students will gain a better appreciation of the importance of entrepreneurship in the food and agricultural business space.

Goals

This initiative will enable students and faculty to interact with, be inspired by, and learn from notable agribusiness professionals to gain a better appreciation of the importance of entrepreneurship in the food and agricultural field.

The selected candidate(s) will provide an experiential learning environment through the following activities:

  • Class lectures
  • One-on-one meetings with students
  • Discussion with student groups and clubs
  • Public seminar on entrepreneurship in the agrifood sector
