CSAHS

CESI was established in 2009 and has achieved a national and international reputation for its original and innovative mechanisms that connect university researchers and students to community partners and initiatives. We are seeking to raise $1,500,000 to increase the scale of work and raise the profile of CESI.

Impact

University-community engagement is significant as a reciprocal must-have relationship between academia and the greater community. Our goal is to connect university- and community-based knowledge and experience, to address a wide range of social, economical and environmental issues. By doing this, we can enrich existing teaching and research programs while providing distinct benefits to our community.

Goals

This initiative will support three programs within CESI:

  1. The Guelph Lab which facilitates productive relationships between the City of Guelph and University researchers and students.
  2. Research and Teaching/Learning clusters to facilitate development of partnered research and experiential learning opportunities.
  3. The Partners for Practice program to create opportunities for external practitioners to on campus.

CESI has been operating on a small budget and has developed a reputation as a leader in this field. Imagine what this campaign will do for our university and community. Our goals are to:

    • Continue connecting university researchers to community initiatives
    • Meet the increasing demand for research from local, regional, and cross-sectoral actors in various research areas
    • Expand CESI’s capacity to increase responsiveness to new research areas
    • Provide direct knowledge mobilization strategies to external stakeholders
    • Increase the university’s ability to provide expertise through science to policy
    • Expand community engaged experiential learning opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students
