Terence Rothwell
BSc (Eng) '75

Terry completed two undergraduate degrees at the University of Guelph and returned to complete a graduate program in 1996. Over the years, Terry has supported OAC, the Engineering Alumni Association (EAA) and the University of Guelph Alumni Association (UGAA). Terry’s involvement with the EAA began in 1992 and he has served on the Board of Directors for more than 10 years. Terry is a past-president of the EAA and is currently serving as Secretary to the Board. Terry’s institutional memory has been invaluable for younger committee members and his unwavering support has ensured the EAA’s continued success.

Besides serving on the EAA board, Terry has found time to support the School of Engineering by organizing a speaker series for the first-year engineering cluster, making sure that alumni were
invited as speakers. He also helped establish an equipment fund for the School of Engineering through support from his classmates, the Engineering Class of ’75. Terry has also been a regular judge for final semester design projects.

The UGAA has also benefited from Terry’s dedication — he served as the EAA representative on the board from 2001 to 2004. As part of that commitment, he served on the Honours and Awards Committee and the Steering Committee for new awards.

Outside the University Terry also has an impressive record of volunteering. He devoted a number of years to a task force that successfully prevented the conversion of prime agricultural land into a landfill. He hosts tours of his apple orchard for Wellington County schools and has donated apples to the “Hungry Kids” Breakfast Club program.

Terry Rothwell continues to give generously of his time and expertise to the University community. The University of Guelph Alumni Association is proud to honour the accomplishments of Terry Rothwell with the 2008 Alumni Volunteer Award.
