Ms. Anne Miner (BA ’80, MBA ’99) is an entrepreneur, best-selling author and International speaker; she is respected and acknowledged as an expert in the field of customer care and retention, and is lauded as a forward thinking visionary, Anne volunteers extensively in Oxford County, and is a vocal philanthropic champion for women and children. Ms. Miner received her BA in Psychology in 1980, and returned to earn an MBA specializing in Agricultural Economics and Business in 1999.

Ms. Miner founded The Dunvegan Group Ltd., a marketing and research consulting firm which specializes in customer care, retention, and growth, in 1987. The company relocated its headquarters from Calgary to Woodstock, and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2012. The Dunvegan Group has undertaken extensive customer research in the business-to-business arena to develop its own proprietary customer retention metric, the ‘Dunvegan Affinity Rating™’ (DAR™), which challenges the status quo regarding measurement of customer satisfaction and retention.

Ms. Miner has dedicated herself to providing leadership and mentorship in her local community. She was instrumental in revitalizing the Oxford Women in Networking (OWIN) group, which grew from 40 members to 140 in two short years under her leadership.

Ms. Miner serves as the Director of the Public Speakers Association - Cambridge Chapter; she is a member of the Market Research and Intelligence Association, and was one of the first researchers to receive the prestigious Certified Marketing Research Professional Designation. She is one of the founding members of IMPACT: International Membership of Professional Advisors, Coaches, and Trainers.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Miner has made significant philanthropic contributions to her community. As part of the 25th anniversary celebration for The Dunvegan Group, Ms. Miner encouraged each employee to select a local community program to receive one of twenty five donations of $500 each.  She currently hosts the Rogers Television Program ‘Women of Courage,’ to inspire others to confront their challenges following the example of courageous women in her community.

Ms. Miner’s peers characterize her as a hardworking entrepreneur who offers hilarious insights. She is considered to be a consummate professional, who is intelligent, caring, and above all, successful. She is celebrated as someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty. Ms. Miner is best summed up as “one of those people who never gives up on making things better.”

Ms. Miner has authored several books, including: ‘Measuring Up! A Guide to Success with Customer Satisfaction,’ and ‘The Bottom Line on Customer Retention: It Pays to Care!,’ and contributed to ‘Succeeding in Spite of Everything.’

It is with great pleasure that the University of Guelph Alumni Association names Ms. Anne Miner as the recipient of the 2013 Alumni Medal of Achievement
