Can others travel with me who are not University of Guelph alumni?

Absolutely! We welcome U of G alumni, faculty, staff, retirees and their family and friends. Anyone who is interested in educational travel is welcome to join us.

Trips are promoted to alumni aged 55 and up. Travellers have ranged in age from 50 to 70+, depending on the trip.

Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours can fill up quickly and are sometimes offered to several different schools simultaneously. Making a reservation is easy, you can call our office and we can take your details and pass them on to the tour operator or you can contact the tour operator directly. All deposits and payments are made directly to the tour operators.

Yes, Canadian citizens require a valid passport for international travel. The tour operator can assist you with specific entry requirements for countries on your tour. Sometimes there is also a visa requirement that might have an additional fee.

Yes, but we highly recommend you take advantage of the air reservation services offered by the tour operators. In the event of a disruption in flight schedules, the tour operator will assist those who have booked through them to rearrange transfers. Passengers not departing or arriving on the group flights are responsible for arranging and paying for their own transfers to/from hotels/ships/airports.

Often this can be arranged directly with the tour operator. Let them know your plans at least 60 days in advance, additional fees may apply.

It’s always good to visit your doctor for a check-up before travelling outside of the country. Make sure your inoculations/immunizations (eg. tetanus) are up-to-date and be sure to ask what is recommended or required for the countries you are visiting. The tour operators can provide information about immunization requirements or you can visit the Government of Canada website for further information. It’s also wise to bring a complete personal medical record with you in case of an emergency.

The tour operators endeavour to book trips to areas that are safe to visit. However, unanticipated things can come up that make a country less desirable to visit. Check the Government of Canada website for current travel advice and advisories. It is advisable to register with the Government of Canada when travelling abroad. It’s a free service and can be done online.

All travellers are strongly advised to purchase travel insurance. Ask the tour operator about what they offer, and check out other options to ensure you have the coverage that meets your needs.
